SurveyLA Training – Day 2

Day 2 of training! All about using the GIS-based survey software, and the tablet computers it runs on. The software is called the “Field Guide Survey System,” or FiGSS for short. We have a 75-page “Field Guide” manual that we’ve been finishing up in the office the past few weeks, updating things as the technical people tracked down the last bugs in the system. The computers seem a little finicky, too; there’s just so much data included in the program that it slows down even top-of-the-line tablet computers.

Everything seems to be running ok on the last few tests we’ve done, though. And everything went well at the training. Can’t wait to see if it all works smoothly out in the field!
